11.Feb.2010 professional bio… by my friend Ashley.

I hate writing about myself.  I feel like I just can’t do it.
For days I’ve needed to write a bio for a speaking engagement I am doing about women in the communications field.
Perhaps it’s ironic that I am incapable of communicating about myself.
So, I gave the task to someone else, giving her bullet points about my career and this is what she came up with:

Jennifer Garibay-Weiss is currently living in Belmar, New Jersey and working at STAR 99.1 FM Radio Station as the Promotions Coordinator.  STAR 99.1 is a non-profit family friendly radio station serving the NY metro area and she has been working there for about 3 years.  She has a very diverse and exciting background.  She has experience in the performing arts, as a former member of a communications ministry called Covenant Players that traveled around the country relaying messages of hope and inspiration in an entertaining fashion.  Jenn was a freelance promoter at Sony/BMG, TVT Record and for Russell Simmons.  She has worked at 4 different radio stations and has been in the radio industry for 5 years. Jenn believes in the importance of internships and the rewards of learning through experience in the work place. Building relationships and hard work with dedication are the most important means of succeeding in the field of communications. Her song for 2010 is “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” which shows off her fun yet devoted side to making the best with what she already has been given.

  • I think most people are uncomfortable writing about themselves. So you’re not alone there. But then some people can’t seem to get enough of writing about themselves. These are called “egomaniacs” lol

Getting others to write about you for you seems like a safe bet as long as it is a positive write up.
